Re: New Houses at Beresford

Hi all, just a quick question. Am I right in thinking that you are not allowed to have Sky TV installed because of the fact that you would need to have a satellite dish and cables on the outside of the house? Most houses have a sky dish, mine is at the front just above the roof line on the gable wa...

Hi all, just wondering if you can help us out. We have bought a house in Beresford Crescent and will be moving in shortly. Re: New Houses at Beresford

Hi everyone - do you know how many more phases are planned for Beresford? We're hoping to buy in Donabate next year and think the current development there looks lovely. No idea as to how many more phases there are or how many are unsold. It might be best to contact Hora or the other developers for...

Re: Large Scale Development - Activist Question

Perhaps I was being a bit dramatic, but the Gallery was mothballed for the best part of 10 years, so anything is possible. Anyway, yes I agree with you on the new mix being more appropriate for the village - even better is that the mix will be 'pepper-potted' as opposed to being clustered in larger ...

Re: Large Scale Development - Activist Question

The development will progress at the rate of 100 per year to allow infrastructural development proceed in tandem. What are the views here on all of this? 100 houses per year out of a total of 1,200 - 12 years!!! Add a property crash and recession in the middle of that and it will be a ghost estate ...

Re: Large Scale Development - Activist Question

'All residents in those proposed social houses are going to remain long term unemployed due to the fact that they have been dumped out in Donabate' That's one hell of a sweeping statement!!!!!!! Apologies if it came off as a bit sweeping or offensive. What I was getting at was that Fingal CoCo will...

Re: Large Scale Development - Activist Question

The affordable housing I wouldn't mind so much, at least the residents in them will have invested some of their own money into them in the same vein as any other punter buying their own home outright. The social side (while I have no problem in a sensible ratio) is just a box ticking exercise for Fi...

Re: Houses Ballymastone Disaster

Couldnt have said it better, housing should not be seen as a right, especially for those who have not worked in their life. There is no way I would buy in this estate It is a joke - out of sight out of mind for the councilors - while they collect their rebuilding Ireland bonuses As I've said before...

Re: Balllymastone lands in Donabate

30% Social Housing - that will have most, if not all people living in them unemployed. Not putting down anyone unemployed, but what chance does any of them have of obtaining a job in Donabate? Any employment will be in either Swords (transport over and back is an issue) or a job in the city centre w...

When a village is no longer a village.

In today's Indo and Journal, there are articles regarding Fingal CoCo's plan for 1,200 new homes in Ballymastone (see links below). The split will be 50% private homes, 20% affordable homes and 30% social housing. Given that the population of Donabate will be over 20,000 in a few short years, is it ...

Re: Travel times to East point business park

It all depends on what time you leave at. I used to work 8 to 4, so leaving the house at 6:45 would get me to the IFSC at around 7:30am. That was via Collins Ave, Malahide Rd, left at Fairview Park and down past the East Point Business Park. There is a window of about 15mins around the 6:45am that i...

Re: New Houses at Beresford

My own advice is to go for the brightest paint if you plan on painting any of your walls a different colour in future, makes a big help.
I got the grey, almost black tile for the bathroom, looks good but very hard to drill through for fitting shower screen etc.

Re: New Houses at Beresford

Hi Amy

If you browse through the previous pages of this thread, there's a lot of info on conversions. Box room shouldn't be affected by new stairs and your new room will be the largest in the house.
About Space seem to be the preferred option for most people.

Congratulations on your new home.
