Re: Politicians: Hot or Not?

Brendan Ryan lives the furthest from our town, but is the only TD (if not publicly elected rep) who has a regular clinic here.

Re: Large Scale Development - Activist Question

There appears to be some movement on this. According to the SPDD Facebook page, they are claiming credit for a change in the proposed ownership mix. It appears that 60% of the development will now be private ownership, 20% affordable, and the remaining 20% social. The development will progress at th...

Re: Houses Ballymastone Disaster

Couldnt have said it better, housing should not be seen as a right, especially for those who have not worked in their life. There is no way I would buy in this estate It is a joke - out of sight out of mind for the councilors - while they collect their rebuilding Ireland bonuses As I've said before...

Funnily enough, a nice E30 estate would be my thing!

Georgeous confortable car, even by today's standards.

Out of curiosity (or outright nosiness !!) can I ask what car you are restoring? Being thinking of doing same when I have time to turn my hand to it. :)

Re: Bus Changes 33b & 33d

I've read those "Bus Connect" proposals and there are many issues with it which are a concern. I don't understand the rationale of running the renamed 33B to Clongriffin / Clare Hall because quite frankly, there's no apparent need for it. If you wanted to add substance to the 33B then I'd send it vi...

There's the risk that the warmer weather will attract beach goers on top the turnout expected for Flavours. Getting in and out of the peninsula could be very tight. Methinks I'll stock up tonight and stay in for the weekend. :D

Re: Dublin Fingal 77%

Would be nice if we could make the village an election/referendum poster free in the future. With TV/online/newspapers are posters on a pole really necessary or useful? It is meant to be a poster free village, with only those permitted by FCC. But there are those that take it upon themselves to pos...

And as usual, when it comes to subjects more emotive than ropey planning, crime, anti social behaviour, transport, schools and SuperValue, we seem to get more first time posters with a strong view on matters like this..... I don't have a axe to grind with either side and I will decide what way I wil...

Self checkouts mean fewer jobs and less hours for our neighbours and young people. SuperValu Donabate is one of, if not the hightest profit-making shops.in the country. Do they really need to cut their staff costs by 25%? For what it's worth, I have no affiliation with SuperValu employees; I'm just...

Re: Oaklee Housing Trust Ownership of New Apts at The Galler

Arguable case in this for the provision of a proportion of social housing to be earmarked for local needs, purely because we know it's coming. I know afew good people who grew up here long before the blowins came and are renting because purchase prices are so high. Now rents have exploded and they'r...

Re: Speeding through the village

At long last the Portrane road has been resurfaced near the new development and it is a very welcome relief to the bomb craters we've had to deal with. Unfortunately it hasn't spared me a €200 bill to repair suspension damage which was caused to my car there... Also, I see that the new traffic light...

Ok, need to figure out a way to motivate local representatives. They all seem to have bought in to the County Manager's plans. Local representatives need to feel their job is on the line if they don't help us. I'm not getting that feeling as yet. Their asses are on the line Vlad, - the local electi...

Re: Dublin Half Marathon - Road Closures

The core issue here is that Newbridge house is not capable of hosting events which generates a footfall above a certain level without it overspilling into serious disruption. The Flavours of Fingal event was also a case in point. No amount of traffic management is going to completely sort this out. ...

Depends how far you want to travel really.

West of Swords, Kettles and Roganstown Country House do Carvery

Am pretty sure Carnegie Court does the same.

St Margaret's Golf club does a cracking carvery but involves more travel.

Manowar Pub is very good too.

Skerries has just about everything going

Village is effectively cut off. My wife has been stuck in a two way traffic jam near Kilcrea gates for over an hour.
