Re: DPCC questioning Ballymastone development

I think it is http://planning.fingalcoco.ie/swiftlg/a ... =F18A/0618 which is a massive area starting at Smyths pub carpark, behind The Strand, and filling in most of the land between existing Donabate and the new distributor road.

Re: Flavours of Fingal traffic

At about 18:30, traffic was backed up from the motorway junction to the Tesco roundabout; 2 lanes of ~1km tailback. So anyone coming down from Blakes Cross direction, or leaving Flavours/Donabate via Turvey Avenue would have been impacted.

Re: Hearse Road after the railway bridge

The road is being widened, but it doesn't look like its being done all the way to the corner, so the area outside Prospect Hill will still have no path. There is also an entrance being built, presumably for access to planning application F16A/0179. So in one part of Donabate, a developer is being to...

Re: Cycleway to Malahide Progress

Since its only connecting the two parks does this mean it wont be accessible after hours? eg 4pm in the winter? Is it possible to make submissions to fingal to request this type of thing? The part outside the park will be accessible, and the new distributor road will have a cycle path along it, so ...

Re: Cycleway to Malahide Progress

I'm very disappointed with that route and the statement that it is a "recreational stretch of greenway". Maybe it'll improve if its extended North, but for now, it looks like its designed only to encourage traffic from Malahide to Newbridge house. Will look great on a shiny tourist brochure, but if ...

Re: Semple Woods new development

I believe the developer has applied to ABP to be allowed to increase the number of 'units' in Semple Woods from 251 to 328. (Fewer houses, more apartments).

I won't be surprised when these are sold to a cuckoo fund.

At this stage I’m leaning towards Bob Dowling(I am not normally an FG voter). If the community wants anything to be done looks like he’d be the main route to the government and get that Tilsbury monstrosity stopped. Might give Mulville 2nd but that’s it. Isn't it An Bord Pleanála, implementing gover...

Re: This place is getting worse

Donabate doesn’t feature in a list of the fastest growing towns in Ireland (2). That said, Donabate isn’t even growing as fast as Lusk, Rush, Ashbourne or Kinsealy. And now look forward, to the end of expansion plan which is already in progress: A target of 5,200 additional homes, giving a populati...

Its not a by-pass, its a road to open up access to lands to allow housing development. Even Fingal CoCo aren't pretending its a 'by-pass'.

But my favourite bit of the "getting much much better!" post is commenting on how best to handle reports of street fighting.

But thats good isn't it? HSE is already messed up, so there is limited damage he can do, and Fingal will be rid of him.

Re: Public Meeting - Planning Moratorium - Tuesday 26th

They put bicycle lanes and tunnels in place when the motorway junction was built, so yes, I would expect them to run a bicycle lane the full length of the Hearse road, and along the distributor road.

Properly designed and built cycle infrastructure would not put cyclists at risk.

Re: Newbridge farm animals blocked from view

Technically, there is a Cafe and there is a Shop, but jaysus what a miserable effort, especially when compared to what Malahide castle has on offer. Someone was told to stock a gift shop, and they did the bare minimum. Any more than three people in the queue for coffee, and the whole system falls ap...

Re: Semple Woods new development

I think the location is good. Donabate isn't that big (yet) so you can't go far wrong with location. Easy walking distance to the Train station, and to Newbridge park. Some day there might be a bicycle path across the estuary to Malahide, but don't hold your breath. You'll aways be near the sea, and...

Re: Train service from Donabate to Connolly Station

My experience (trains only) is that things have gotten worse since the 10-minute dart interval was introduced a few months ago. I get the 09:02 in the morning: sometimes there might be 1 or 2 seats if you're prepared for an undignified scramble to get to them. No problem with standing room. I believ...

If you wouldn't call Lorraine Clifford-Lee that to her face, then you shouldn't say it here either. She's the only politician in the last few years that I've seen going door-to-door when there wasn't an election in progress.

I'd have no problem telling Alan Farrell that he is indeed an arrogant git.
