Re: Leave your kids the f**k at home

I have to agree with Paul (but using better language).

Any not so much about kids, but I went for a walk in newbridge the other day - some people don't even get into single file when you're passing them. You need to deviate well off track to get past them...

Small effort for a potentially huge gain.

Safe to walk to Swords?

Hey,

Doing some DIY & need a few small supplies from Airside retail...

I'd get the bus, but given the circumstances- I'm trying to avoid public transport...

Is it safe to walk?

I've done the google maps & it says it's ok..

Has anyone done the journey on foot?

Al.

Re: New arrival - Life in Donabate

I've only witness minor anti social acts - just kids being (slightly bad) kids. The train isn't that bad. I've worked in Blackrock, and never had any issues with it. My partner works in Swords and had an easy commute on the 33B. Frequency is a bit of a pain off peak, but I'd say that'll improve. It'...

I'd heard of similar back in 2005 or so... guy selling a fancy new Motorola flip phone for โ‚ฌ150... Guy had a look at phone - was brand new. Agreed sale, the perpetrators placed the phone in a bag. Exchanged funds & handed victim a similar bag... They immediately drove off. When guy opened bag - it c...

Re: Running Clubs

We have the park run every Saturday morning at 9:30am - it starts at the steps of Newbridge House.

Great weekly event.

There are a number of people there who represent different running clubs, so it'd be a great place to ask around ๐Ÿ‘

Anyone know what's being built here? (Close to Connolly - over royal canal)

...I think it's the royal canal anyways...

Just before you enter Connolly on the train - looks like they're building train tracks, luas tracks or maybe even a cycleway?

I had a lot of hope for Gemma O'Doherty - - she did a good documentary on Ireland's longest missing person - Mary Boyle (Donegal). Allegedly murdered by her uncle, but FF councillor told police to cease their investigation. - she was fired from independent for investigating senior Garda or political...

Re: Regret Buying Home in DONABATE?

I bought my place from overseas & the writings on this forum almost put me off buying.

When I finally got here I was so surprised at how nice it actually is. I'd heard of Newbridge, but had no idea just how nice it is... such a nice thing to have on your doorstep.

Less of the negativity please.

Re: Clongriffin to get 1,416 apartments

Because there's nothing in Clongriffin but high density housing.

And yes, it's on the dart line but that's already at capacity.

Cycling - that's 10km each way. And only suitable for those able & willing to cycle.

No denying there's gonna be big changes in the next 10 years.

But based on original post - I still have no regrets for buying in Donabate.

Depending on how things pan out - that may or may not change...

Re: Regret Buying Home in DONABATE?

Some serious moaners on this forum I swear to God it almost put me off buying here. Biggest concern was the trains, but never a bother. Rarely get a seat on the way to city, always get one on way home... Donabate still great. Nothing but negativity. So many have written off Semple Woods, but I've h...

Re: Regret Buying Home in DONABATE?

No, I do not regret buying in Donabate. I'm from Donegal originally & have seen a lot of drugs, violence there & have yet to see any in Donabate. I'm living in Donabate for a year now & ive found the following positives: - always got on the train (and a seat on school holidays) - love doing the park...

Re: Smyth's Pub - Unruly Clientele again

I witnessed this also - Saturday around 19:00, I could hear some commotion from the train station... noticed a gang of about 15-20 youths who I assumed either got kicked off the train, or just decided to pick an argument with it or it's passengers / driver... Shortly after, I popped out & noticed on...

Clongriffin to get 1,416 apartments

Not relative to Donabate, but another example of bad planning... Very high density 10km away from the city. High density makes sense in city centres or close to places of work. https://www.irishtimes.com/business/commercial-property/gerry-gannon-company-gets-green-light-for-1-416-apartments-at-clong...

Re: Train service from Donabate to Connolly Station

I've been living in Donabate since May & was / still am worried about transport. The small towns in North Co. Dublin are commuter towns, so expect a lot of passengers. That'll increase as development continues. To answer your question - I was surprised at the space on trains when I moved here. Rarel...
