Re: What does Donabate / Portrane need?

We need a solution to the the Hearse Road/M1/R132 junction. That's going to become a major bottleneck very quickly.

Re: Semple Woods new development

The laws of supply and demand will still apply to the rental market. More properties available could lead to lower rents. A large part of the problem today is a lcak of properties.

Re: Semple Woods new development

I wonder what sort of discount they are getting? I can't see buildiers giving away much. The only savings from the builder's side would possibly be legal fees and estate agent fees.

Re: Semple Woods new development

The flip side of this is whether large developments could be built in the first place without these funds buying some of the houses? There is also the fact that first time buyers are struggling to get finance and can't buy the houses so will increase the demand for rental properties. There will be h...

Keys Found - Beaverstown Road

Look like house keys. Found outside Educate Together yesterday morning (could have been Saturday as my Father in Law isn't 100% sure). If they are yours, give me a shout.

Re: Orchid Close

IIRC, there was planning permission sought for what is currently being used as a builder's yard about 15 years ago and it was rejected. That yard is part of of the large old house on Beaverstown Road which is a listed building. Some of the out buildings that are currently in the builder's yard could...

Re: Foreign students attacked and robbed in village tonight

I see on the Donabate village facebook page footage was published of lads robbing a fire extinguisher outside Pasta Castello. I wonder if there are any legalities in publishing footage of antisocial behaviour here or is that considered taking the law into our own hands? Please don't post footage he...

Re: Newbridge farm animals blocked from view

There are far more sensible ways to stop people feeding the animals than erecting a bamboo fence. The likes of goats will eat through that very quickly.

Re: Newbridge farm animals blocked from view

I haven't heard that the feeding itself is causing a problem, however, it does mean that the animals congregate down the back of the fields. Great for those out walking, but not great if you've paid in and then realise that you'd get a better view of the animals in the meadow fields if you took a wa...

Re: Biggest Kick in the teeth to the people of Donabate so far

My understanding of an appeal to ABP is that they review the submission from the ground up so that would include all documentation previously submitted to FCC. If there is no new information to add, then there is no need to resubmit to ABP for inclusion.

Re: Biggest Kick in the teeth to the people of Donabate so far

I've no problem with people criticising local representatives when it's due. My point was purely in relation to this issue where the developer appealed the FCC decision to ABP.

Re: Biggest Kick in the teeth to the people of Donabate so far

What’s Henchey doing about this apart from scoffing at the troff of our community clubs and societies each weekend in addition to posting updates about the serious questions he raises with Council all the time. Ineffective, overfed and useless all of them. I'm not sure what local representatives co...

Re: Housing - Ballymastone

Don't forget the people that bought The Gallery at the height of the boom for massively inflated prices, their prices were only starting to stabilize again, and what happens, this beautiful development gets hijacked by a housing association . What's the harm in that you might think, Well here's the...

Re: Housing - Ballymastone

It would be interesting to understand what people expect of our local representatives. What do you see as their role? When it comes to development, I'm not sure they can do much bar voice concerns. I get the feeling there are some people who feel that they should be stopping development on the penin...

Re: Train service from Donabate to Connolly Station

Ken , is there a date at which the Dart will be extended to Donabate because I moved into Donabate over 20 years ago and ive been listening to that story for years I've no idea. I'm in Donabate 20 years myself and have been hearing that it's on the horizon all that time. It doesn't seem to be any c...

Re: Train service from Donabate to Connolly Station

Why are people still facing this problem day in day out , what are local representatives doing about it , obviously very little if the trains are still crammed every morning , surely this has to be a safety issue. Irish Rail claim the Northern rail line is at full capacity and they cannot add furth...

Re: Housing - Ballymastone

I would be in the same boat re FF myself. I've never voted for them. However, when it comes to local representatives, those with access to TDs and that have a party machine behind them can be more effective that many independents that just serve to make noise. There's a lot at stake on the penninsul...

That's what happens where there is absolutely no accountability. It will end up costing more than the Burj al Arab in Dubai and that's literally gold plated inside.
