Re: water supply

Not aware of any works at the moment. However, water pressure has never been great on the peninsula. Could be down to usage at that time and the supply not being up to capacity. All those extra houses are likely having an impact hence the need for a new water main.

They finally got around to resurfacing the upper part of Beaverstown Road last week. As I type, it's being dug up again. You couldn't make it up.

Re: Hearse Road Closure

It took them a couple of months to do the length of the Beaverstown Road. At that rate, 6 months could be overly optimistic.

Re: Elections

I wouldn't judge a candidate on their support for the moratorium. Given the housing crisis, it's difficult for larger parties to support it as the optics aren't good when viewed nationally. While I would agree with the moratorium on principle in terms of our lack of infrastructure, I couldn't see ho...

We need a solution to the the Hearse Road/M1/R132 junction. That's going to become a major bottleneck very quickly.

The laws of supply and demand will still apply to the rental market. More properties available could lead to lower rents. A large part of the problem today is a lcak of properties.

I wonder what sort of discount they are getting? I can't see buildiers giving away much. The only savings from the builder's side would possibly be legal fees and estate agent fees.

Re: Semple Woods new development

The flip side of this is whether large developments could be built in the first place without these funds buying some of the houses? There is also the fact that first time buyers are struggling to get finance and can't buy the houses so will increase the demand for rental properties. There will be h...

IIRC, there was planning permission sought for what is currently being used as a builder's yard about 15 years ago and it was rejected. That yard is part of of the large old house on Beaverstown Road which is a listed building. Some of the out buildings that are currently in the builder's yard could...
