Train Overcrowdiing

Post by Vlad the Impaler » 10 Sep 2018, 11:52

So this morning's 07.57 train into Connolly was probably the most overcrowded since the big bust 10 years ago. Looks like the economy is back on its feet (for many).

What is clear is that Donabate can barely handle it from a transport perspective, so if you see an elected representative handing out leaflets at the train station, stop and ask them:

1. How they would get into town for work if they had no car and the trains weren't running.
2. How we can possibly handle more population under the current arrangement.
3. What they are proposing and actively doing about the above.

Then ask them to join you on the cattle lorry to experience it first hand.

Well said, massive population increase and no improved transport

Its an issue for all of Fingal not just Donabate

The that it has taken this long for the infamous "Rush & Lusk" train to stop in Donabate shows the lack of common sense and planning that is shown by Irish Rail

It's been awful the last three mornings.
Who is the best to discuss this with?

I have gotten a seat on the 7.39 train the past 3 mornings. There were plenty of them too.

Last week the 8.14 was wedged, lucky to get something to hold on to!

Yep, I’ve had to start going earlier.

The only positive is the the trains back in the evening no longer stop at Howth Junction.

If they don't stop in Howth Junction what are people who work in Clontarf Business park doing? Assuming they switch at Malahide. Would it not have been better to keep the Howth Junction stop?

Looks like if you get the 7.30 from Donabate to Bray train you can look forward to two extra stops from Monday. Portmarnock and Clongriffin.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Some changes announced..

scrap more regular Darts then seems the answer. or scrap Darts as people on Dart line want both.

(or more carriages)

will be even slower surely now.

I saw the same 2 mornings in a row, a person fainted each morning.
If the Dart managed to get change their timetable, how come the commuter train can't do the same?
