New street lights / trees

Post by Donagreat » 16 Oct 2018, 15:03

These new white light street lights that are being installed are coming at a bit of a cost, and I think residents should have been consulted.

In the past week we’ve had three healthy, well established trees cut down on the Turvey estate that have taken decades to grow, because there needs to be a 5m gap from the new lights. This strikes me as poor planning and of the council taking the easy option instead of repositioning the lights. People should have been asked about this.

i find this strange. They installed the Hazelwood estate without the need to cut down any trees. The tree outside my house is located beside the lamppost, couldnt be closer - the branches and leaves actually surround the light.

They seem to be on a mission in FCC to chop down as many trees as possible.

If this is a requirement, its not being applied consistantly in Turvey because the trees cut so far are further away from lights than untouched trees. Where did you get information on this '5 metre' rule?
