Trains

Post by Bawner » 27 Nov 2018, 12:51

Hi,

Thinking of getting morning trains which I haven't done in an age. Any chance of getting on or getting a seat? I know the 6.40 was crap as it is 4 carriages. I used to get a seat on 7.20. So what's it like now for trains up to say 745? I see there is an extra train now.

Well, I get the 6.37 train. It's more than 4 carriages but tough to get a seat. No chance of a seat after that.

07:02 Train ... usually standing room only.
07:17 Train ... same as 07:02 - but sometimes get a seat on Friday

Have taken the full range of trains regularly and generally the only seating you will find is on the 9:00 onwards. There are those isolated and lucky occasions where you might get one, but take it as standard that you will be standing on the earlier trains. I'm sure by the time the hybrid/DART arrives in Donabate, in 2027 supposedly, you can still expect to be standing.

Happy to take the 33d but some issues lately. Twice this week it was significantly delayed at port tunnel because of traffic those mornings(the rain). I got it last Friday. It flew as far as the toll, passing at 7.57. Then took 15-20 mins to get to Beckett bridge on what should be a quiet morning. Was over an hour from Donabate to Stephen's Green.
